Thur 9/6 MLP homerun data to look at stem-and-leaf (by 10’s and by 5’s) as well as historgram and dot plot; Looked at initial WHS ACT data; Video stem-and-leaf (HERE). You should be done with Chap 3 notes
Fri 9/7  Looked at Dak Prescott’s salary compared to others (HERE); ACT questions…quiz bowl buzzer style! “Stats for Dummies…4 puzzles” to do this weekend
Mon 9/11 Looked at a couple back-to-back stem and leaf plots; “dummies” packet hmwk check; Video on median/mean (HERE); Discussed summation problems on the packet; started to talk about a box and whisker plot

Thur 9/14 Built a box plot on the calc; packet to look at IQR; officially discussed how to determine an outlier; Looked up box plots on google to see some in action; Time to work on the assignment
Fri 9/15 Hmwk check; discussed questions on the hmwk; Looked at stdev on the calc; notes on center/spread…symbols for population and samples….variance and the formula for stdev; Examples in class; Do the 2 “dummies” worksheets this weekend. Chap 3 quiz on Monday; Chap 1-4 test on Friday
MOn 9/18 Homework check; practiced StDev by hand; watched a good video (HERE); partner quiz (no calc)…students get 5 more min on Wed.

Wed 9/20 Finish the partner quiz (no calc)…do the partner quiz (calc)…work on the hmwk problems from yesterday
Thurs 9/21 Warm up with dot plots; 5 ppt problems to look at;  go over quizzes; prepare for the exam; give review; work on review and the chap 4 hmwk
Fri 9/22 Dr. Hartman was out working on homecoming things; Students had time to work on chapter 4 work and the review. The answers to the review will be posted HERE this weekend.

Tue 9/26 Answered questions on the 2nd puzzle from the “dummies” sheet from two weekends ago; Normal curve video (Click HERE); At the boards discussion N(20, 1.5)…building normal curve based on empirical rule; Hmwk: start to read and take notes for chapter 5

Thur 9/28 Sketched N( 84.7, 6.2); Analyzed test results; Went over the test; tests back; Looked at ACT results “information”
Fri 9/29 Revisited: Click HERE first; Look over the “reading” material on this part of Mathisfun.co…then at the bottom take the quiz…the quiz is good! Looked at the NWU stats book problem with the twins; initial discussion about z-scores  z = (x bar – mu) / stdev;  started to watch: HERE; no hmwk for the weekend.
Mon 10/2 Finished NWU book problem; finished the video; looked at the z-score table; time to start working…remember to take some notes on Ch 5 and start doing Ch5 #1, 3, 7, 9-13, 15, 17, 19, 23

Fri 10/6 Looked at newspaper stats; went over a tough normal curve / z-score problem; quizzes back; Add to chapter 5 hmwk: #39, 41, 43, 45; Assign math for dummies sheet
Mon 10/9 Asked for any questions on the hmwk; dummies sheet; then time for partners to work on a quiz together
Tue 10/10 PPT leading us through initial thoughts on simulations…flipping a coin…also looked at the calculator….AND the calc to find normal z-values! Read Chapter 10 (yes TEN), take notes, and start to do: Do #3, 5, 6, 9, 11
Wed 10/11 Started to talk through simulations…and random numbers to help lead the way…keep working on 3, 5, 6, 9, 11…
Thur 10/12 More with simulations; go over the quiz (HERE); Add to hmwk…12, 13
Fri 10/13 Finish up the Ch 10 notes and book work if you haven’t already…then work on the coordinate plane “pumpkin” picture. (Dr. Hartman was gone at a quiz bowl competition!)

Wed 10/18 Seniors were out and about on college visits!
Thur 10/19 Last simulation activity in class (peers worked together); then time for finish old book work and add on Ch 10 #17-19, 31, 36. Notes check and hmwk check tomorrow as well as a quiz as well as moving on!
Fri 10/20 Pushed quiz and hmwk/notes check to monday; Answered questions from the book (Ch 10); moved on to the rectangle activity. Download “sheet” HERE and watch first 18 minutes of this video (HERE). Spend time with this!!!
Mon 10/23 Notes check ; hwmk check; Recapped Friday’s work; Chap 10 quiz; TIME to read and take notes for chapter 11; have this done by tomorrow!
Tue 10/24 Notes check ch 11; Videos HERE and HERE over census, sampling, and types of sampling; began to talk about how sampling would work with our rectangles (SRS, systematic, and stratified); Hmwk: start working on Ch 11 #1, 3, 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25, 27

Thur 11/2 A few students gone!!! 1. Watch two videos: HERE and then HERE; 2. Make sure you have complete notes taken for chapter 12 (there will be a notes check on Friday)…and there is a LOT in chapter 12. Hopefully the videos helped some. 3. Things to consider: practice quiz w/ answers on Friday…time to work on book work Friday…time to work on Project Friday….Official Ch 12 quiz on Tuesday of next week….Chapter 5/10/11/12 TEST next Friday…keep or START working on the project as it’s due Wed Nov 15th.

Wed 11/8 Answers to the quiz handed out; began a discussion about statistically significant; answered a few question….make progress towards Friday’s test and next week’s project deadline. Review packet handed out

Mon 1/15 Opened with sheet of problems with postal service; Watched video (HERE); Looked at Quincunx machines (HERE and HERE); used work from the video, last week’s 20% late “flight” problem, and postal service problem to make sense of the binomial theorem; FINISH reading and taking notes over chapter 16.

Wed 3/14 Weighed a sample of pies and determined the confidence interval for the population mean. Interesting results; Make sure you have read chap 22 and taken notes!
